Seafood Smash Session

Hello, lovelies! I have returned. I am alive and I am relatively well 😂 Today I’ll be bringing you a very belated look at my trip to The Optimist here in Atlanta for my birthday back in February!

A sweet lil birthday note and a Rainbow Country (white rum, Jamaican rum, vermouth vaniglia, citrus, pineapple, earl grey, & sugarcane).

My girl Maddie & I got dolled up and went out on the town. We went with in all intentions to eat our body weights in seafood…and boy, did we get close! Here’s a little sampling of our adventure 😘

We started out with a happy hour special of a dozen oysters of different varieties (2 of each). We opted for lower salinity types, and they were everything we hoped they’d be!

To be fair…we had no idea it was oyster happy hour before we walked in, so that was a happy surprise.

Now, be aware that the menu here does change seasonally so they always have the freshest ingredients. That means, sadly, that they don’t always have the same yummy treat 😭

For our shared mains: we selected the duck fat poached swordfish and the branzino (that’s the whole fish).

It was suuuuch a difficult task choosing our main dishes, but these were absolutely delicious!

After finishing the rum drink, we got a bottle of Chardonnay to split. For our digestif we got some drink that I can’t even tell you what it is (aside from tasty & strong), and I also got a baby cappuccino.
Finally, and most importantly, desserts! I chose the lemon brûlée tart (which they popped a candle on for me!) and Maddie chose the pineapple upside down cake with ice cream.

Overall this was probably one of my favorite restaurants I have been to in the Atlanta area! I will definitely be returning to try more options in the future 💕 Thank you to my bestie for taking me out & to our server for being SUCH a delight to interact with!

Much love, readers! Til next time 😘
